Netflix should save Hannibal and bring the series back for season 4

It’s been five years since NBC cut off Hannibal but the scar still runs deep.

Bryan Fuller’s brilliant take on Thomas Harris’ novels ran for three seasons, won multiple awards, received critical acclaim, gathered a huge fan following, and was termed one of the best horror TV series of all time. And yet, Hannibal’s future is like blood in the moonlight. It’s not fair.

The series ended on a literal cliffhanger. There’s so much more the show has to offer. Netflix needs to save the series and order Hannibal season 4.

Netflix added the first three seasons of the series in early June. At first, only the first season was available to stream, but now, all three seasons are available to stream on Netflix.

After flirtatiously putting the Great Red Dragon to rest, Will pulls Dr. Lecter as they both fall off the cliff. The fall seems impossible to survive, especially keeping in mind how in season 2’s “Sakizuke,” the man who escapes from the “color palette” jumps off a cliff but hits a rock instead and dies. But, then again, Hannibal has survived the worst of injuries so far and managed to live like nothing ever happened. He has a plan for everything. He probably, somehow, saw this coming.

The credits scene of the finale had fannibals guessing who cooked and served Bedelia Du Maurier’s leg. Was it her? Was it someone else? According to Screen Crush,  Fuller said it was Hannibal himself.

Ding dong, Hannibal’s not dead.

This is obviously not surprising, but it is all the more reason why we need season 4. Will we see Will sticking by Hannibal’s side like Bedelia? The murder husbands definitely deserve some quality screentime together.

Already knowing that Hannibal will somehow manage to escape, Alana Bloom fled with her wife and baby.  We know he’ll get to her the first chance he gets. Dr. Lecter keeps his promises after all.

I’d also love to see how Dr. Chilton recovers after the burns and where he goes from there, knowing that Will and Alana used him as bait. Then there’s Freddie Lounds, Chiyoh, and Jack Crawford, having their own stories to tell and explore. Not to mention, our Hannibal is yet to meet his Clarice sterling and Buffalo Bill. The Silence of the Lambs arc is still unexplored.

Fuller and the cast have always told the fans that they shouldn’t give up on the series and we’ve been doing just that for the last five years. In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Mads revealed that Bryan is still looking for Hannibal’s new home while also trying to get the rights to Silence of the Lambs. Now that Netflix has picked up the show, perhaps we can do something more than to just wait.

Over the years, Netflix has revived canceled shows and their fan following played a major role in it. Take Lucifer, for example. Canceled by Fox, Lucifer was given a new life at Netflix for two more seasons since fans kept asking the network to save it. And, it might continue for even more seasons!

So, let your voice be heard. Hannibal Lecter does have agency in the world. He has you. #SaveHannibal
