Netflix should announce the Lucifer season 6 renewal soon

We’re still waiting for the official word that Lucifer season 6 is happening, but we’re expecting Netflix to announce the renewal in the near future.

Tom Ellis, star of the now-Netflix original series, finalized his deal to return for season 6 recently, according to a report from TV Line. With Ellis, the showrunners, creative team and rest of the cast signed on for season 6, it’s only a matter of time before Netflix announces Lucifer will return for another season.

That’s not the only Lucifer news we’re waiting on, though. We still haven’t heard the official word on the Lucifer season 5 release date yet, although we were hoping to see the new season on Netflix in June.

Showrunner Ildy Modrovich teased that the release date would be announced “soon soon” on Twitter, but Netflix still hasn’t announced the release date yet.

When will Netflix announce Lucifer season 6?

At this point, it seems likely that Netflix will announce the season 5 release date and the season 6 renewal at the same time. I don’t know why they wouldn’t do that if they know Lucifer is coming back for season 6. I think it’s probably time that, if Netflix knows Lucifer is coming back for season 6, they officially announce that Lucifer season 5 will not be the final season of the series, which was what was previously announced before Lucifer became on the most popular Netflix originals to date.

I mean, it just makes sense that Netflix would announce this news soon and before season 5 premieres. It will let fans know that there are more episodes in the works, and that’s reassuring for a fanbase that has been put through a lot with the FOX cancellation, Netflix announcing the show was ending after season 5, etc.

Lucifer season 5 consists of 16 episodes, and Netflix will split the season into two parts. So, there’s plenty of time for Netflix to make the season 6 announcement. We just think it will happen sooner rather than later.

Lucifer was almost finished filming the new season, but the coronavirus stalled production, and it looks like it also affected the season 5 release date.

If Netflix doesn’t announce the sixth season soon, I’m sure the news about season 6 will break soon. It’s too hard to ask the creative and cast to keep it a secret on the upcoming press and promotional tour for season 5.
