If you’re into the horror genre and cult favorite television show, Netflix has something special coming for you this month. NBC’s critical darling Hannibal, which has been popularly deemed as canceled too soon, arrives on the platform for streaming to reignite the flame of its fandom. As a draw to horror fans looking to sink their teeth into something new and loyal fans of the series ready to give their favorite a millionth binge, Hannibal returns in June as one of the most high-profile and highly anticipated new release series.

Based on the novels Red Dragon, Hannibal and Hannibal Rising by Thomas Harris, Hannibal stars Hugh Dancy as Will Graham, an FBI profiler who’s recruited by his boss, Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne), to aid in the investigation of a serial killer in Michigan. However, the investigation begins to weigh on Will, prompting Crawford to have him supervised by Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). Of course, Hannibal is secretly a cannibalistic serial killer and uses his connections with the FBI to push Will into becoming a serial killer, too.

Hannibal comes from creator Bryan Fuller, who also created such shows as Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies, American Gods and Star Trek: Discovery. All three seasons of the series earned critical acclaim, with each holding Rotten Tomatoes ratings of 82% and 98% for the final two. Because of ratings struggles, Hannibal was ultimately canceled by NBC. Talks with other networks fizzled, but chatters of a possible revival continue to this day. Should Hannibal land a second wind of popularity on Netflix, anything could be possible. Check out the complete series this June.
