Stateless: Netflix releases first-look images for new limited series

Netflix’s newest limited series, Stateless, is coming in July 2020

Get ready for a new limited series on Netflix. Stateless stars Yvonne Strahovski and Dominic West and will be released in July.

The first-look images were released on Netflix’s teasery Twitter profile See What’s Next. They certainly give us a sense of what to expect in this six-part drama show, which is set to tell the tale about individuals in an immigration detention center. While this series is set in Australia, it’s a good indication of the lives of those in detention centers around the world.

Netflix shares that it focuses on four strangers whose lives collide while they’re all stuck at the detention center. And that center is in the middle of the Australian desert. There’s nowhere to run or hide to escape some of the atrocities they’ll face.

The four characters couldn’t be any more different from each other. There’s an airline hostess on the run from a cult, a bureaucrat trying to contain a scandal, a young father trying to get out of a dead-end job, and an Afghan refugee fleeing from persecution. They all have reasons for being in the center and sound to be on a voluntary basis.

Yvonne Strahovski, Jai Courtney, Asher Keddie, Fayssal Bazzi, Dominic West, and Cate Blanchett will star in Stateless. We’ll get a look at their lives in the camp and their lives before they got there based on the images released. It’s a chance to learn why and how they end up in the situations they are in, offering the viewers a chance to empathize with them.

There isn’t long to wait for the new limited series. It’s set to premiere on July 8 only on Netflix.

While it is promoted as a limited series, this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be one and done. There are many that do remain as limited series, like I-Land and likely Little Fires Everywhere, but there are others that grow to become more like Big Little Lies. However, my gut tells me there likely won’t be a second season.

Stateless is coming to Netflix on July 8.
