All American season 3 should be 22 episodes like other CW shows

All American season 3 will be 16 episodes, but we want to see more in the new season

All American is one of the most popular shows on The CW and Netflix after the second season ended and was added to Netflix in March 2020.

Even though the TV series was added to Netflix a few months ago, the show remains one of the most-watched shows on the streaming service. Recently, it was still popping up on Netflix’s Top 10 shows and movies of the day lists.

All American season 3 is happening at The CW, but it’s going to be a long time until we see the new season. According to Deadline, The CW has pushed all of its fall shows back to the midseason, and that includes All American season 3. That means, unfortunately, we won’t see season 3 on Netflix until sometime in the summer of 2021.

It’s not all bad news, though. All American season 3 will still get its full season order of 16 episodes, according to the report. And, if all goes well, we’ll get to see all of those episodes. A few seasons of other CW shows like Riverdale and The Flash were cut short because the coronavirus pandemic halted production on those shows before the new seasons were finished.

While 16 episodes seems like a good thing for All American season 3, we have other ideas. We’d much rather All American season 3 consist of 20 or 22 episodes like other popular CW shows, like Riverdale, The Flash and more.

We’ve seen The CW up episode counts on new seasons in the past. Riverdale’s first season was only 13 episodes, and then The CW ordered 22 episodes for the second, third, and fourth seasons. Only 19 episodes of season 4 aired, though.

Even All American saw its episode count increased in the first season. Originally, the first season, like Riverdale, was only going to be 13 episodes, but The CW ordered three more episodes. The same thing happened for season 2.

Now, it’s clear that All American season 3 could and should be 22 episodes.

While I like the show and just want more good stories in this world, I think there’s a very good reason for increasing the episode count to 22 for season 3. Most importantly, there are more stories to tell.

In the beginning, Spencer and his story were the hook to get the viewers. We all invested in his story. Now, I’m even more interested in the stories of the supporting characters like Olivia, Coop and Layla, Jordan, Asher, Tyrone, and more.

With an increase in episodes from its first two seasons, All American season 3 could unlock other stories, add more characters, and give us even more drama.

I understand some fans like the shorter episode count. With 16 episodes, the story can be trimmed a little bit and some of the less important scenes can be cut. With 22 episodes, there’s a little bit more fluff, for sure.

But, is that a bad thing? While Riverdale can drag at times, I’ve never wanted fewer episodes. And, that’s true for All American as well.

We all want more episodes of All American, and The CW should make it happen for season 3! There’s more than enough time to write those episodes right now.
