Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt movie gave us a fun, interactive ending

The season finale of the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was full of joy. Titus became a star and got married to Michael. Jacqueline was a fancy talent agent. And Kimmy became a best-selling children’s book writer and had her own rollercoaster. Everyone got what they wanted.

Despite all of the main characters being happy, something was missing. There seemed to be one more story to tell. Good news, everyone.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend gave us the ending we deserved and so much more. It wasn’t just an ending. We were given the opportunity to create their ending.

As a fan, the idea of this being an interactive movie was both exciting and scary. Being able to control what happened to Kimmy Schmidt and the gang seemed like a fun idea. All of the shenanigans you could make them do would definitely be entertaining.

On the other hand, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch was disappointing. Bandersnatch ended up being boring and drawn out. So the big question a lot of people had was whether or not Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend would succeed where Black Mirror: Bandersnatch didn’t.

The answer is an emphatic yes.

Let’s take the very first decision you have to make. It’s something as simple as picking a dress. Would Kimmy pick the fun wedding dress or the classy one? A fun but simple choice. One that gives a hilarious response from the cast.

As the show goes on, you get more choices. Some of them will cause you to go back to another part of the movie or to the beginning altogether.

As the movie progressed, the decisions got more difficult. They’re difficult because you can see how each option will make the cast do something that will make you laugh or smile.

There was one in particular that’s so unlike Kimmy Schmidt that you’ll never unsee it. They won’t be the ones that get you to the end of the movie, but the visuals are interesting to say the least.

Bandersnatch did the same thing, but the actions after the selections were dull and forgettable. It lacked the flair we’re used to seeing from episodes of Black Mirror.

People watch Black Mirror for the unforgettable, “Oh shoot!” moments and incredible stories. Bandersnatch lacked that. It was disheartening. Maybe my expectations were too high. Nonetheless, considering how good the show has been, those expectations were justified.

Thankfully, the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt creative team learned from Bandersnatch’s mistakes.

Overall, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend was everything we wanted. There were a bunch of random appearances from stars who fit the movie to perfection and the cast was still incredible.

Jon Hamm is as amazing as you’d expect, Titus was, well, Titus, and Kimmy’s gets an ending fitting for her. Not only that, she saves the day in a way that brings everything full circle. This interactive movie worth watching, and it has a ton of replay value as well.

Once you cut it on, you’ll never be able to stop watching. You’ll also feel compelled to try all of the options. Kimmy Schmidt continues to be unbreakable.
