All three seasons of Hannibal will be added to Netflix in June 2020

We have some good, but not great, news for Hannibal fans!

All three seasons of Hannibal are coming to Netflix on June 5, according to a report from Bloody Disgusting. Netflix is about to announce the full list of June new releases in the near future, and somehow, the Hannibal new release news has already broke.

Obviously, this is great news for fans of the now-canceled TV series starring Mads Mikkelson. But, it’s not the news fans were hoping for.

Since Hannibal was canceled in 2015, fans have been hoping for Netflix to step in and save the series. But, Netflix has either passed on the revival or was unable to come to a deal with Bryan Fuller and the production companies involved to bring Hannibal back for season 4.

A lot of time has passed since then, but the hope for a revival has not died, though. Even as late as 2019, Mikkelson revealed to Bloody Disgusting that Fuller was working on something like acquiring The Silence of the Lambs to explore more of that story in future seasons of Hannibal.

I think there’s a good chance we could see a Hannibal revival in the future in the form of a TV series or movie. There are so many factors at play, but I’m still hopeful that the creative team and the powers that be could come up with some way to put a cap on the series. And, that’s really just a gut feeling I have.

If enough fans refuse to let the series die, well, a revival is always possible. I never thought we’d get some of the revivals we’ve seen in recent years. If there’s a fanbase there that’s big enough, Hulu, Amazon, Netflix or one of the other streaming services would be interested. That’s always possible.

It will be interesting to see what Netflix does and can do if millions of fans watch Hannibal when it’s added to Netflix in June. Would that show Netflix that a Hannibal revival would be worth the hefty investment to make it happen?

This new addition should be a sliver of hope for fans of the series. Netflix acquiring the streaming rights is definitely not a bad thing, and it could be a very good thing. We just don’t know yet.

I’m unaware of any contracts holding Netflix back from acquiring and reviving the series, but that could also be what would stop a potential revival in its tracks.

There’s so much we don’t know, but Hannibal coming to Netflix could be the beginning of something great. We’ll just have to monitor the situation closely and see what happens.

Will you be watching the series on Netflix in June? Do you want to Netflix to save the series?
