Riverdale season 4 is certainly a season that divides the fans, especially later on. However, for those who have waited for it to come to Netflix to binge-watch for the first time, I won’t spoil it with details here.

All I will say is that the first episode is one you’ll want to have the tissues ready for. This is an episode in memory of Luke Perry, who died in the middle of filming season 3 after suffering a stroke. His loss was greatly felt by all (fans and cast/crew alike) and it was only fitting that the death would be written into the show in some way.

Archie learns that his father has been in an accident. Throughout the episode, we see numerous goodbyes. One of those is Shannon Doherty, who plays an important role on the show. You can tell the actress was actually saying goodbye to her dear friend, who she’d starred on Beverly Hills, 90210 with back in the day.

From there, the focus is on a bigger mystery. Don’t worry; Fred’s death is not the focus of the mystery for the season. The first episode is a beautiful tribute to the actor and the show moves forward with a different plot after that. It’s only right considering the circumstances of Luke Perry’s death.

This is the final season with Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols. Both announced their departures ahead of the abrupt season finale due to the coronavirus pandemic. You’ll want to see how and why they’re written out of the show.
