The Haunting of Hill House team is making The Midnight Club series at Netflix

The creators behind Netflix’s hit The Haunting of Hill House and the much-anticipated The Haunting of Bly Manor will bring another book to life in series-form on the platform, The Midnight Club by Christopher Pike.

Mike Flanagan and the team behind Netflix’s The Haunting anthology, which includes The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and more, are set to adapt another spooky book into a series.

According to Variety, Flanagan is adapting The Midnight Club, a young adult novel by Christopher Pike. The author is especially important to note because there is also a book with the same title by James Patterson.

The book was released in 1994 and was set in the fictional Rotterdam House, a hospice for terminally ill teenagers. The Midnight Club is about a group of five residents who gathered in the hospice’s library in the middle of the night to tell each other spooky stories. They also promise each other that whoever dies first will reach out to the others from beyond the veil.

Who died first and were they able to reach out? You see the number of possibilities for scary storylines, right?

However, from the reviews on Goodreads, The Midnight Club is more than a scary paranormal book. People use words like “love and healing,” “tender,” and “morbid and sad,” to describe their experiences with it.

According to the report, Intrepid Pictures is the production company bringing The Midnight Club to Netflix. Intrepid’s CEO, Trevor Macy, will executive produce along with Mike Flanagan and Leah Fong.

Fong, who is one of the writers on The Haunting of Bly Manor, will also be one of the writers for The Midnight Club, along with Julia Bicknell, Elan Gale, James Flanagan, and Chinaka Hodge, according to Variety.

Flanagan’s going to stay busy because, in addition to The Haunting of Bly Manor and now The Midnight Club, he’s also got another horror series coming to Netflix in the near future. The series is titled Midnight Mass, and like The Midnight Club is part of Flanagan’s overall deal with Netflix.

So for those of us who like the scary stuff, Flanagan’s hard at work trying to bring us quite the variety.
