Although some of us wish we could age backwards and we claim that a handful of celebrities are actually aging backwards, it’s not possible outside of the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. These days, it feels like we’re aging in hyper-speed because of, well, everything. Clearly, we’re in need of a reminder that being Benjamin Button isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Without a doubt, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button ranks as both one of Brad Pitt’s best performances onscreen and one of the best new release movies coming to Netflix this month.

Based on the short story of the same name by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button begins in 2005 as Daisy Fuller (Cate Blanchett) lies on her deathbed ahead of Hurricane Katrina’s wrath. She tells her daughter Caroline (Julia Ormond) the story of her father, Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt). He was born as en elderly man and continue to age in reverse, ultimately dying as a baby at the age of 84 in Daisy’s arms. Throughout his life, he met up with Daisy in different times as he experienced all kinds of adventures, though the hope that he and Daisy would connect at the perfect time was the driving force of them both amid these strange circumstances.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button comes from director David Fincher, directed Brad Pitt in Seven and Fight Club as well as the films Panic Room, Zodiac, The Social Network and Gone Girl. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics and holds a 71% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

On top of stellar box office returns, Benjamin Button earned 13 Academy Award nominations, ultimately winning three for art direction, makeup and visual effects. Don’t miss the beloved blockbuster when it begins streaming on Netflix at the top of May.
