It’s rare that a show makes it 16 seasons, but it’s even more rare that a show continues to be feverishly talked about 16 seasons in. Grey’s Anatomy might have shed a few eyeballs over the years, but it remains one of the top shows on television with as much debate inspired by the water-cooler worthy plot twists as ever. The landmark medical drama continues to make history and make fans obsess over every episode, and it’s not done yet. This month, the (shortened) latest seasons arrives on Netflix for streaming, proving it’s the perfect time for a 16-season binge-watch.

In season 16 of Grey’s Anatomy, the series gets off to a running start as the loose ends from season 15 are tied up and further frayed. The season features firings, breakups, makeups and a thrilling crossover episode with Station 19. Of course, season 16 also says goodbye to Justin Chambers and Dr. Alex Karev in a polarizing departure that had longtime viewers ranting up one side of the internet and down the other. If you haven’t yet caught up with the season’s biggest moments, you’re in for a season of ups, downs and everything in between.

Grey’s Anatomy’s sixteenth season suspended production due to the coronavirus pandemic with four more episodes left to film. The brings season 16’s order from 25 episodes to 21 and makes it the lowest season order since season 4 dropped to 17 in the wake of the writer’s strike. However, even though the season’s finale cliffhanger was impacted, the series ultimately won’t be impacted. Grey’s already scored a renewal for season 17, ensuring that the series will resume where it left off when it’s safe to do so. Until then, dive back into the latest season on May 9.
