Following his stint as Daredevil on Netflix, Charlie Cox has been attached to play the Marvel hero in a new project; however, a role Spider-Man 3 seems out of the cards.

After seeing Charlie Cox as Daredevil on Netflix, it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Cox playing the iconic Marvel hero. Cox’s turn as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in Netflix’s acclaimed superhero drama is often held in the highest regards, with the actor’s name often tossed around in conversations about the greatest superhero performances from not just the Marvel-Netflix series, but the superhero genre.

When the relationship between Marvel and Netflix broke down, the Marvel-Netflix universe as we knew it quickly crumbled around fans leaving no hero unscathed as one by one Netflix cancelled its various Marvel dramas. Despite the acclaim it had garnered the streaming service or the role it played in launching a successful television empire, Daredevil‘s run came to an abrupt end after three all too short seasons.

With Cox’s time as Daredevil on Netflix over, fans quickly looked to Marvel in hopes the company would manage to find a new way to bring the character into the fold of its massive, ever-growing cinematic universe.

It didn’t take long for the rumor mill to begin churning leading to fan speculation about the character’s involvement in a number of Marvel projects in development, including its forthcoming third entry in the Tom Holland led Spider-Man franchise. Unfortunately, at least at the present time, there doesn’t seem to be any truth to the rumors.

Charlie Cox addresses Spider-Man 3 / Daredevil rumors

As Charlie Cox revealed in a new interview with Comicbook.com, it wasn’t until the comic book site touched upon the rumor that Cox realized his name was being floated around as having a connection to the yet to be titled Spider-Man 3 film. While he notes it is perhaps possible the character could be involved, it’d be with another actor as he is in no way currently involved with the film.

Although it seems Cox is not currently in talks to revive his role as Daredevil in any upcoming Marvel projects, he admits he’s more than open to the prospect of returning to the role should Marvel come knocking — even if just for a fun cameo in the background offering legal advice to a hero in need!

"“Look, I had a great time [playing Daredevil on Netflix]. I’m so grateful I got to play that character as long as I did. Of course, I’d love to keep going. I’d love to be involved with it,” Cox commented before expressing his interest in seeing more of the character. “I love the idea of Jessica and Matt showing up in the background or Matt as a lawyer advising Peter Parker. That’d be really, really cool.”"
