Darth Maul Diaries

Darth Maul had a relatively brief appearance in Episode 1, with very little character background and development. The next time Star Wars film viewers come across Darth Maul, he is shown conversing with Qi’ra in Solo. It’s a big reveal since, in Episode 1, Darth Maul was thrown down a space shaft and presumably killed. But, obviously, he’s not as dead as we may have thought and we’d like some blanks filled.

Acknowledged as one of the favorite villains in the Star Wars saga–and one of the most memorable with his double-sided saber, “menacingly” red face and bone-chilling orange eyes–Darth Maul has also made a notable impact on the expanded universe of the franchise with his role in the Star Wars animated series.

The Darth Maul comic series takes place even further back than The Phantom Menace. It even features Maul being tempted to leave the dark side for the good side of The Force. Since we can’t reenact the events of Episode 1, A Darth Maul Diaries series would likely have to cover Darth Maul’s origins before Episode 1 or cover the events between the first film installment and Solo.

Personally, we think it would be fascinating to see a Darth Maul before Darth Sidious as one of the Star Wars stories we want to see on Disney Plus, where his character would have far more things to say, with a little less silent death glares.
