Doctor Who? Doctor Aphra

Darth Vader had surrounded himself with a lot more interesting people than just General Hux and Grand Moff Tarkin. Out of all of the original characters that have come from the Star Wars comics, Doctor Aphra, a series written by Kieron Gillen, tells the tale of one of the most unique Star Wars villain characters with a more than a compelling story.

Formerly under the employment of Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra is a morally questionable, criminal archaeologist with her own droids (or “murderbots”) named 0-0-0 and BT-1, and Wookie bounty hunter Black Krrsantan.

The story takes place between the events of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, where Aphra manages to escaped death at the hands of Vader and goes into hiding from Darth Sidious, but not before she resumes her illegal trade of also illegal artifacts to pay off her enormous debts.

Aphra is like a female version of Han Solo, but with a little more bite than bark. In fact, her character was inspired by Indiana Jones, so the story is packed full of adventure and we think it would make for both an epic and comical TV series. Maybe there could even be a little bit of Han Solo cross-over if the CGI was good enough. Either way, it’s one of the Star Wars stories we want to see on Disney Plus.
