Little Kid Jedi
While it was only for a very brief moment at the end of The Last Jedi, almost all of us can admit we got a little excited when we saw that little boy use the force to pick up a broom. It seems like the kid was all ready for a lightsaber when he raised the handle of his broom to the sky. Needless to say, we got a little nostalgic for the reign of our favorite saber saviors.
The boy and his broom might be an insignificant pair to some viewers, but others of us are too stubborn for those easter-eggs to let it go. We don’t think that hint of The Force was dropped without cause to also expect something more from that story–whether it’s from our own suggestion or one that Disney is already working on with Star Wars stories we want to see on Disney Plus.
The Kylo and Rey films have focused a lot on a new wave of The Force and establishing a new order, separate from the ways of the Jedi and the Empire. These films have shown an evolution in the way that the resistance not only uses The Force but the way it’s viewed by those on the outside.
Rey was always adamant about the sanctity of the old Jedi ways, but there seemed to also be a part of her that knew Kylo was right about something new needs to be established. The boy and the broom might not be the start of something old, but something brand new, and we’d like to see where that goes.
