The second season to After Life, starring Ricky Gervais, drops on Netflix tonight! Will you be watching?
Netflix’s black comedy, After Life, was the surprise hit of 2019! It follows a very depressing story surrounded by dark comedy and jokes, it almost makes you feel bad for laughing along. With it being created and directed by Ricky Gervais, though, did we really expect anything else?
After Life season 2 drops on the streaming service tonight, but the hour varies depending on your location. It’s available to stream at 12:01 a.m. PT/3:01 a.m. ET.
Gervais is known for his risky projects, and After Life is only his latest unapologetic work of art! It’s safe to say that, when it comes to Ricky Gervais, you either love is work or you don’t. However, if you lean more towards the latter, I urge you to give After Life a chance, anyway. You may change your mind!
At the center of the dark plot and borderline sadistic humor there’s a lot of heart. You’ll be absorbed by the feels and learn some life lessons along the way. It may sound difficult to believe, being a Ricky Gervais show and all, but trust us and give this a watch!
The first season of After Life follows Tony (Gervais), a man who recently lost his wife to an illness. He is completely lost without her and couldn’t care less about anyone else now that she’s gone. He quickly develops what he refers to as his “super power,” which is the ability to not care about anyone else’s feelings.
Tony says what he wants and does what he wants, not caring consequences or hurting others. Season 1 is a journey of finding a reason to still be alive, loving life and yourself again. Season 2 continues this journey as Tony decides to give love another shot. The rest of the cast also returns.
After Life season 2 consists of six episodes and is available to stream on Netflix on Thur., April 24. Will you be streaming the season or watch a different series or movie?
