Disney Plus to celebrate May 4 with help from The Mandalorian special, Clone Wars finale

Disney Plus will celebrate May 4, 2020 with some help from the new Mandalorian special, Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, and the series finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

In celebrating its first Star Wars Day since its launch in fall 2019, Disney Plus is turning to two of its breakout originals in The Mandalorian and The Clone Wars to bring fans a day of epic Star Wars programming. In honoring the global Star Wars fan community day, Disney Plus will be rolling out two special Star Wars-themed programs.

Disney Plus sets May 4 premieres for The Mandalorian special, Clone Wars finale

The fun will begin with the premiere of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, a new special which will bring together executive producer Jon Favreau and the cast and crew of the show for a behind the scenes look at the creative process of creating the show.

"“Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian is an opportunity for fans of the show to take a look inside and get to see a different perspective, and perhaps a greater understanding, of how The Mandalorian came together and some of the incredibly talented contributors throughout Season 1,” said Favreau in a statment. “We had a great experience making the show and we’re looking forward to sharing it with you.”"

Through the special, fans will get the chance to see how the show was brought to life with a particular look at the technology, artistry, effects, score and creative influences that inspired the 8-episode first season. Fans can also look forward to the connections to Star Wars characters and props from the franchise.

It also just so happens Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian will arrive on Disney Plus just three days after the season 1 finale of The Mandalorian airs overseas in many European countries, making it a perfect post-finale watch for fans in the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Austria, and Switzerland.

In addition to rolling out the behind the scenes Mandalorian special, Disney Plus has also confirmed that May 4 will bring with it the series finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. 

As Disney notes in its press release, the hope is in debuting the series finale on Star Wars Day fans around the world will be able to watch the final episode together as part of their Star Wars Day celebrations.
