If you’re a loyal Netflix binge-watcher, you’ll notice that each month, there are movies that are added and removed a handful of times each year, for whatever reason. One of those movies happens to be the fan-favorite romantic comedy Just Friends. The streaming service could add and remove the movie a million times, and we’ll still recommend it as one of the month’s best new releases because, obviously, it will always be one of the month’s best new releases.

Ryan Reynolds stars in Just Friends as Chris Brander, a successful record executive who returns to his hometown during Christmastime for the first time in 10 years. However, a lot has changed about Chris. He’s gone from the overweight wallflower who was friend-zoned by his best friend Jamie Palamino (Amy Smart) to Ryan freaking Reynolds being chased by self-obsessed pop star Samantha James (Anna Faris). Chris still holds a candle for Jamie and tries to win her back.

Just Friends comes from director Roger Kumble, who also helmed such movies as Cruel Intentions, The Sweetest Thing, College Road Trip, Furry Vengeance and Netflix’s Falling Inn Love. Despite its standing as a cult favorite, the film landed a middling Rotten Tomatoes score of 42% and a modest box office gross of over $50 million worldwide. No matter what, Just Friends will always there for a good, nostalgic laugh. Don’t forget to add it back to your watch list at the top of the month.
