Stranger Things 4 “likely to be pushed back,” according to David Harbour

The Stranger Things 4 release date will likely be pushed back, according to star David Harbour. When is the release date for Stranger Things 4?
The wait for Stranger Things 4 might be a little longer than we thought.
David Harbour, star of the Netflix original series Stranger Things, recently said Stranger Things 4 was expected to be released in early 2021, according to a report from GamesRadar.
Harbour also admitted the release date is “likely to be pushed back,” according to the report.
That’s definitely not what fans wanted to hear, but it makes sense with production delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Netflix ordered all shows and movies filmed in the US and Canada to stop production on Friday, March 13. After that, all Netflix shows and movies shut down production all over the world. Everything is on hold right now.
There’s no estimated date to begin production, although the initial stoppage was for at least two weeks. It seems likely that it will be extended. Netflix has not confirmed a longer delay yet, but they are expecting some interruptions with content originally planned to be released later this year.
When will Stranger Things 4 be released?
That’s what everyone wants to know, but unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like anyone actually knows because of the developing situations.
There’s still a chance we could see Stranger Things 4 in early 2021. At the time of publishing, Stranger Things 4 still has about five or six months left of filming. If Stranger Things 4 production begins again in the next few weeks, the delay likely won’t affect the release date that much.
It’s hard to imagine the cast and crew of Stranger Things 4 going back to work in a few weeks, though. Assuming production is postponed for a few months, the release date will obviously be bumped back accordingly.
As long as Stranger Things 4 starts production again sometime this year or in early 2021, we should see the season by the end of next year.
Stranger Things is one of those shows that does a lot of holiday-themed seasons. For Stranger Things 2, we saw Hawkins around Halloween. The third season was set in the summer.
Many fans were expecting a Christmas season for season 4, but lately, I’ve been thinking that new season might be set around Valentine’s Day, based on the date the show released the Hopper teaser for the new season.
If the season is a Valentine’s Day season, would Netflix release a Valentine’s Day-themed season later in the year? Would they hold the show until Valentine’s Day 2022?
There’s another issue with that, as well. Stranger Things uses a lot of exterior locations, and that can create challenges with the production schedule. It’s hard to pass a fall day off as spring day or summer day. So, if the new season is set in the spring or summer, which is when the bulk of production was supposed to be happening, it’d be hard to film that in fall or winter.
There are many ways they can work around this, and it happens very often in shows and movies. They could limit exterior scenes, and they could adjust the story and set the season during a different time of year. It just adds another layer to a developing situation that could affect how Netflix and the powers that be proceed with the new season.
For now, we’ll continue to expect the season in early 2021 until we hear differently. Stay tuned for more news about Stranger Things 4!
