What happened at the end of Ozark season 2? We shared the Ozark season 2 recap before the season 3 premiere on Friday, March 27.

Ozark season 3 is coming to Netflix at 12:01 a.m. PT on Friday, March 27. We know tons of fans will be staying up late to stream the new season.

It’s been a really long time since Ozark season 2 premiered on Netflix way back in August 2018. To help fans remember what happened without having to rewatch the series, we shared our Ozark season 2 recap below.

After you read this, you’ll be ready to jump right in when Ozark season 3 premieres tonight.

You can also take a look at this recap video of Ozark season 2. Netflix shared this about 10 days ago to get you caught up before the new season premieres.

How did Ozark season 2 end?

The Byrdes

At the end of season 2, Marty had a plan to get the family out of Ozarks. He had a plane booked and ready to go and everything. It was all taken care of. All they had to do was leave.

Right before they were going to do that, Wendy stepped in and made a big move. She decided that the family would not be leaving the Ozarks. Instead, they were staying, helping run the riverboat casino, and getting even deeper in with the cartel.

Why? Well, we don’t really understand Wendy’s motivations, other than she’s gotten a taste of this lifestyle and business and she wants more.

It also seemed clear that she didn’t want to run from their problems. She didn’t know, truly, if they would be safe when they left the Ozarks. If the cartel could find them, they would probably be killed.

The Kansas City Mafia also just blew up Marty’s office. Yikes.

The Langmores

Earlier in the season, Cade Langmore, Ruth’s father killed the FBI agent closest to taking down Marty and the family, Roy. It also appears his luck ran out by the end of the season.

After Wendy met with him at the diner, Cade was leaving town, but the cartel ambushed him and killed him.

Marty learns about this right before the picture in front of the riverboat casino when  Helen breaks the news to him. It’s unclear how Cade’s death will affect Ruth and her cousins.

Ruth will definitely be a central player in the new season, but we don’t know what her next move will be. We anticipate she’ll continue working with Marty and the Byrdes and helping with the casino. After the season ended with Marty’s plan falling through and her father’s murder, we don’t know what’s next for Ruth.

At the end of the season, we also saw Mason kidnap Wendy. Then, Marty and Wendy were forced to kill Mason and give his baby, Zeke, to the most ruthless character in the show, Darlene, who should also play a big role in the new season, as well.

What’s next in Ozark season 3?

Well, that’s where things get interesting. Clearly, there are big problems between Marty and Wendy. When Wendy calls the shots, Marty is less than pleased, and rightfully so, she has been growing more reckless as the show goes on.

The show also jumps forward about six months when the riverboat casino is up and running.

In the trailer, we see a clip of Marty and Wendy in counseling. Will that work? We hope so. They make a good team!

We’re also expecting to see the repercussions of stiffing the Kansas City Mafia. I can’t imagine they’ll be okay with just blowing up the office. They want what was agreed upon, I’m sure.

Things are going to get crazy in Ozark season 3, and then, Wendy’s brother, played Tom Pelphrey, is coming to town. I’m sure he’ll stir up some stuff, as well.

Ozark season 3 premieres tonight at midnight Pacific Time. Will you be staying up late to watch?
