Marvel Comics story: The Dark Phoenix Saga

The Dark Phoenix Saga is among the most beloved comic book arcs. So much so that even people who aren’t versed in comic books knows about this story. The 1990’s X-Men cartoon helped that. On two separate occasions, 20th Century Fox attempted to recreate this series. Unfortunately, both movies were (to put it lightly) disappointing. Dark Phoenix may have been the most disappointing Marvel Comics movie of all time. A very apt way to end the 20th Century Fox era. Both that and X-Men: Last Stand failed for the same reason. Neither of them was given enough time to succeed. Disney Plus can offer a solution to this problem.

Disney Plus ensures that all of the characters and plots to the story will be in the project. For example, Dark Phoenix didn’t have nearly enough time in space. We were robbed of a fight between the X-Men and the Shi’ar. X-Men 3 was just bad from start to finish. It was like they threw in a popular character with a story that had nothing to do with the story. All of this is easily solved with this becoming a show. Allow the creators to have enough time to put this story together properly. This isn’t something that can be told in two hours. The X-Men cartoon version was five episodes and that was just the saga. That could have gone an entire season.

It’s almost a guarantee that Marvel Studios will try this again. Hopefully, they won’t make the mistakes that 20th Century Fox did. They have the perfect platform to avoid the mistakes that were made before them. Hopefully, the third time’s the charm.
