Marvel Comics story: Avengers versus X-Men
The problem with everything that happened after the Messiah saga with Hope Summers is nothing was completed. There still wasn’t an influx of mutant births. However, Cyclops remained positive that Hope was the cure. As they were training, the Phoenix Force expelled from Hope’s body. Cyclops took this as a sign. The Phoenix Force brings destruction, but it also brings rebirth. On the other side, you have the Avengers. They believed that this was going to end with the destruction of the world. Just like Civil War, this leads to a collision course between two of the universe’s greatest heroes.
This would be the finale in a long series of shows that started with House of M in 2005. The X-Men and the Avengers fought over the fate of a race and the world itself. There’s a ton of fighting, but even more heartbreak. Wolverine having to fight his friends was something even the X-Men couldn’t believe was happening. That was only the beginning of things. In the end, we get a happy ending, one that fit the long story that started in 2005.
Avengers VS X-Men will likely happen in the movies, but hopefully, they’ll take their time and tell the story properly. Doing this on Disney Plus makes more sense. A tale that took over seven years to tell shouldn’t be done in four years and five movies. A lot went into this before this series. Hopefully, we’ll get more of this on Disney Plus instead of the theaters.
