9. The Mutant Messiah

Marvel Comics stories: Messiah Complex, Messiah War, Cable (2008), Second Coming

After the mutant decimation, it looked like the mutant race was at an end. Not only were 90% of mutants de-powered, but they were dying without a mutant birth in years. Then, out of nowhere, a new mutant was born, one so powerful that it’s birth sent out a shortwave that broke Cerebro. The X-Men immediately went to Alaska to see the newborn. The bad news was they weren’t the first ones on the scene. The Purifiers and the Marauders got there first. On the bright side, Cable got her first. Thankfully, everything worked out for Cable and baby Hope Summers….after two more events.

Cable and Hope went through multiple Hellish futures before making it back to the present. Even when they made it back they were immediately met by people trying to kill them. Groups of mutant hating groups secretly controlled by Bastion.

In the end, a lot of X-Men died in horrendous ways. As sad as it was, there was a semi-happy ending. After everything they went through, they ended up getting hope for the future. After years of no mutant births and losing faith in the future of mutants, five new mutants immediately popped up on Cerebro. Just like House of M, this can lead to a finale in this series.
