12. 13 Reasons Why
Watching 13 Reasons Why on Netflix will make you go through a roller coaster of emotions, it won’t always be pretty. In fact, it often feels as if the series is out to upset viewers. We do need to consider its target audience, though, and understand that the goal here is to educate others on mental illnesses and bullying. Sure, 13 Reasons Why doesn’t always go about it the right way, but it does try.
Many viewers would argue that the series is only in it for the controversies and shock factor, but it depends on you. It has had many questionable moments and even edited a scene after a lot of backlash. Now after three seasons, it is workings on its flaws and is more sensitive to viewers.
The fourth and final season is expected to premiere later this year, and the cast and crew have been hard at work to deliver a satisfying closing chapter for the long journey. Still, despite the criticism from both audiences and critics, numbers don’t lie. 13 Reasons Why is one of the biggest shows the streaming network has produced. So whether or not people claim to hate it, they are definitely watching.
Season 3 gave viewers plenty to talk about as a new character, Ani Achola, failed to connect with audiences. This character was such a large distraction, that the focus on shootings and suicide were overlooked. We hope season 4 comes back to right some wrongs.
