Like the movies previously highlighted for nearing, celebrating or just exceeding significant anniversaries, Netflix likes to give us a heavy dose of throwbacks from time to time. Some months boast handfuls upon handfuls of movies hitting the 10-year mark, which if nothing else reminds us how quickly time is flying by. This March, the movie selections include a vast number of flicks rounding the decade base, such as Cop Out, one of the month’s best new releases.

Bruce Willis stars in Cop Out as veteran detective Jimmy Monroe, who realizes he needs some quick cash in order to be able to foot the bill for his daughter’s upcoming wedding. He decides to sell one of his prized baseball cards, but before he can even think about trading the card for cash, the prized possession winds up stolen. Jimmy and his partner, Paul (Tracy Morgan), take their investigation to a gangster with an obsession for sports memorabilia, though they must rescue a murder witness who could hold the key to a major smoking gun.

Cop Out comes from director Kevin Smith, who also directed such films as Mallrats, Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jersey Girl and Zack and Miri Make a Porno. The film received overwhelmingly negative reviews upon release, holding a dismal 19% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and only bringing in $55.6 million worldwide against a $30 million budget. Although Cop Out was largely seen as a misfire, it still has an audience like any other film that appears to miss the commercial and/or critical mark. Make sure to check it out on Netflix at the top of  March.
