4. She’s Gotta Have It (TV series)

Premiere date: Nov. 23, 2017

What She’s Gotta Have It is about: The Netflix original comedy-drama follows Nola Darling (DeWanda Wise) as she struggles to juggle three lovers. Not that she is playing any of them, they are each aware of the situation. She’s Gotta Have It explores gender clashes and romance

Why you need to watch this: If To All the Boys and Always Be My Maybe are too vanilla for you, we totally understand. No hard feelings, to each their own! She’s Gotta Have It should be daring and bold enough for what you’re searching for. Unfortunately, Netflix has canceled the series, and after only two seasons! Despite their best efforts, the comedy-drama remained underrated and wasn’t found by a large audience.

I also believe She’s Gotta Have It may have been a year or two ahead of its time. The bold storylines and drama would do much better today. Then again, the Netflix series is based on Spike Lee’s 1986 film of the same name.

If you missed watching She’s Gotta Have It when it premiered, miss it no more! She’s Gotta Have It is empowering, without coming off as preachy, and unapologetic, which is something we should all aspire to be more. Each guy has something to offer and brings out a side of her that she loves, and she’s in no rush or pressure to pick just one. Nola loves her freedom and wouldn’t change a thing about it.

The episode in which Nola invites all three men to Thanksgiving dinner is a must-see! But don’t just skip over to this fun chapter, watch all of them! Each episode (there are 10) runs approximately 30 minutes, so it’s a fun and quick binge.
