5. Always Be My Maybe (movie)

Premiere date: May 31, 2019

What Always Be My Maybe is about: Sasha (Ali Wong) and Marcus (Randall Park) were childhood sweethearts, but lost touch after an argument. They don’t reunite again until 15 years later. Sasha is now a celebrity chef opening a restaurant in San Francisco and Marcus is a struggling musician who works for his dad…and lives with him, too.

Why you need to watch this: One of the many reasons the romcom works so well is that Always Be My Maybe was written by Ali Wong and Randall Park, so no one could have portrayed these roles any better than those most familiar with them. Their chemistry is electric.

I know I couldn’t stop praising how sweet To All the Boys is, and I still feel this way, but that doesn’t mean it’s my favorite. If I have to pick just one romcom on Netflix to re-watch, it has to be Always Be My Maybe! I believe this has to do with me being the target audience. While To All the Boys hits teenagers closer to their feels, Always Be My Maybe feels more relatable to me.

The movie still has its predictable storylines and you can likely figure out the outcome long before the movie is over, but that doesn’t make it any less fun to watch! In fact, it’s a joy! Always Be My Maybe hits all the right boxes in comedy, heartwarming story, and chemistry. Need another reason to watch this gem? Keanu Reeves.
