6. Sacred Games (TV series)

Premiere date: July 5, 2018

What Sacred Games is about: Netflix’s first production from Indian is based on Vikram Chandra’s novel of the same name and follows the lives of various individuals from all walks of life. From a policeman to a Bollywood star and everyone in between, their paths all cross amid the chaos of modern-day Mumbai.

When Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan), a local police officer in Mumbai, receives a phone call from gang leader Ganesh Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) to tell him he has 25 days to save the city, the race against the clock is on to capture Gaitonde. But this war goes beyond their city and has many unexpected twists.

Why you need to watch this: We’re back with recommending a foreign series streaming on Netflix! What can we say? We love everything the streaming titan has to offer, but finding a foreign show makes us particularly excited as it always promises something new and unique. If you love conspiracy thrillers? You’ll want to check Sacred Games out!

The drama-thriller has a glowing score of 92% from critics over at Rotten Tomatoes, with a 93% from audiences to match! Most fans rave about the universe Sacred Games captures with its brilliant writing. Because, if we’re being honest, Sacred Games doesn’t necessarily follow a new story we haven’t heard or seen before, but Sacred Games adds enough elements to freshen it up and make it entertaining.  The series is also bold and brave, going as far as tackling hard-hitting topics such as religion.

There are currently two seasons streaming on Netflix. Fans are hoping for a third season, but there’s no word from Netflix just yet!
