18. BoJack Horseman (TV series)
Premiere date: Aug. 22, 2014
What BoJack Horseman is about: The animated comedy follows BoJack Horseman (voiced by Will Arnett), a sitcom star know for his show Horsin’ Around. Those days are long and gone for him, though, but BoJack craves his old lifestyle. Has his time in the spotlight passed him? Throughout the comedy, BoJack tries to climb back to where he was, but alcoholism and failed relationships continue to haunt him.
Why you need to watch this: Wow, what a depressing series description. Trust me, BoJack Horseman can definitely get dark. The animated series has been credited for how it portrays mental illness. It gets it right, which audiences love as they are able to relate to the characters.
Still, BoJack Horseman doesn’t forget about its comedy factor and does bring us plenty of laughs. It’s a show that grows on you! The dialogue is clever and the story is moving.
Before you go in ready to fall for your next favorite series, I should warn you that BoJack Horseman has been canceled by Netflix. Part 2 of the final season debuted on the streaming titan earlier this year. So, on the bright side, if you are searching for a complete series you can sit and binge-watch from start to finish, without having to wait for more episodes, check out BoJack Horseman on Netflix.
BoJack Horseman is easily Netflix’s best animated comedy, but the numbers just weren’t there for the series. Or, perhaps, after six seasons it was just time for the comedy to end.
