28. Typewriter (TV series)

Premiere date: July 19, 2019

What Typewriter is about: The Indian horror series follows a group of friends who have an obsession with ghosts. The group leader, Sam (Aarnaa Sharma) lost her mother when she was younger, so she is doing all she can to communicate with her. This storyline will truly tug at your heartstrings.

However, Sam is about to wish ghosts never existed once she and her friends run until an evil that is haunting one of their friend’s home. The spirit can be set free and look like anyone you may know. Will Sam and the others find a way to lock the spirit back inside the typewriter, or is it too late?

Why you need to watch this: It’s time to switch things up from popular movies and TV shows to hidden gems you have likely never heard of. Typewriter is one of the best horror series Netflix has to offer, but you may never find it by scrolling. Most viewers who have been lucky to watch Typewriter, either heard about it from a friend or really dug deep into the streaming titan’s files. Either way, everyone had a few sleepless nights after watching.

While Typewriter doesn’t deliver in story and thrills, it is still an endearing movie with several scares. The ending is a puzzling one, to say the least, and definitely makes you wonder what truly happened! Yes, it’s a cliffhanger that’ll have you begging for more. Unfortunately, we still don’t know if Netflix has decided to give Typewriter another season.

My only complaint about Typewriter is that you can obviously tell it’s a low-budget series. Some of the special effects are laughable, but not in a bad way. For new eyes, I can best describe  Typewriter as Stranger Things meets The Haunting of Hill House, again, just on a low, low-budget. Let’s hope that, if the series is renewed for a second season, Netflix gives the Indian series a bigger budget!
