38. Set It Up (movie)

Premiere date: June 15, 2018

What Set It Up is about: The Netflix movie follows Harper (Zoey Deutch) and Charlie (Glen Powell), two professional assistants to two very demanding and crazy busy bosses. This means that Harper and Charlie are always way too busy to relax or even have a life outside of work! To get the break they so desperately need, Harper and Charlie decide to set their bosses up together.

Why you need to watch this: We have already stated how much Netflix has reinvented the romantic comedy genre, but Set It Up is one of the first movies in the streaming giant that made us realize this. It greatly helps that Harper and Charlie’s bosses are Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs, two fun and great actors who are always dynamite on-screen.

Despite the plot being slightly predictable (two friends hooking up their bosses, what could go wrong?), Set It Up finds several ways to freshen up the story. The movie never comes off too strong and delivers a lot of feels and laughs.

If you want to watch a genuinely sweet movie with your girlfriends or just with yourself (and pizza), be sure to watch Set It Up. The movie was so well received by both critics and fans, that there were early talks of a sequel. But now that it has been nearly two years, we don’t think one will happen. We can also hope, though!
