Locke and Key is the new Netflix show to watch in February
By Bryce Olin
Locke and Key premieres on Netflix on Friday, February 7, 2020, and it’s the new show to watch on Netflix next month!
February is almost here, and Netflix just shared the list of new shows and movies headed to the streaming service next month. Of all those shows, you should be the most excited to watch Locke and Key, the new Netflix original series that will be released on Friday, Feb. 7.
Before we jump in, I need to point out how good of a month that February is for Netflix shows and movies. This year, we’re getting Locke and Key, along with To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, All The Bright Places, Gentefied, I Am Not Okay With This and more. In past Februarys, we’ve seen The Umbrella Academy, Altered Carbon, House of Cards (the first season), Love, Santa Clarita Diet and more.
Locke and Key is going to be the next big February show, and there’s no doubt about it!
The series has been in the works for a while at various networks. Finally, the story made its way to Netflix, and Carlton Cuse, Aron Eli Coleite, and Meredith Averill are bringing the series, which is based on the comics of the same name by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, to life.
Locke and Key follows the Locke family after the death of the family patriarch. Nina, the mom, played by Darby Stanchfield, moves herself and three kids across the country to Keyhouse, the home on the Massachusetts coast where her husband and children’s father grew up.
The problem is the house isn’t just a house, and there are mysterious, magical keys. We don’t know what the keys do or why, but we’ll find out soon!
I’ve been waiting for what feels like forever for this show. Horror teen shows are right up my alley. Throw in the magical keys and a mystery to solve, and I’m good to go! This show has the potential to be one of the best Netflix shows of the year.
Check out the trailer for the series below!
Based on the trailer, I’m getting some major Hill House vibes. Obviously, it probably won’t be as scary as The Haunting of Hill House or even that similar at all, but it looks outstanding. For the record, I’m all in on shows and movies about haunted houses. I don’t know that the house is haunted in this series, I guess, so I should say I’m all in on shows and movies about families or people who end up at weird, creepy houses.
Locke and Key looks like it has everything I’m looking for in a new show, and I can’t wait for this new series!
This show has all the makings of a great Netflix show. It’s clear the streaming network is investing in content that fills the teen niche. It has elements that we’ve seen in other Netflix shows, and fans are going to binge-watch this first like crazy. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a quick renewal for this series.
Locke and Key premieres on Netflix on Friday, Feb. 7. Don’t miss it!
