Whether you want a good old-fashioned crime movie or you’re looking for a rom-com, Netflix has you covered. Here are five good movies to watch this New Year’s Eve.
5. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
First up is a rom-com for all ages. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is based on the novel of the same name, and focuses on a girl who always writes letters to her crushes. While they’re addressed and sealed, she never expects to mail them out. However, one of her sisters does just that and she’s faced with her crushes finding out the truth.
The sequel is out in 2021, so now is the perfect time to check out this movie on Netflix.
4. Coraline
When you’re looking for something for the entire family, you need Coraline. Based on the Neil Gaiman novel, it’s a twisty tale of adventure. A young girl walks through a mysterious door in her house, and finds an idealized version of her own home. However, this idealized version has its sinister side that Coraline is about to find out.
3. 6 Underground
If you want something recent, 6 Underground is the movie to turn to. This isn’t for the entire family, though. You’ll want to watch it once the kids are in bed! Ryan Reynolds stars as “1,” and each of the other characters are known as just numbers for the majority of the movie. They’re six vigilantes who fake their deaths and take on some of the world’s biggest terrorists and criminals.
It’s funny and full of gruesome action. If you loved Deadpool, this is for you.
2. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
It’s time to head back to the past, and to some of the greatest comedies every made. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a must-watch on New Year’s Eve. It parodies King Arthur and the search for the Holy Grail, bringing plenty of ups and downs along the way. Oh, and there’s a crazy hilarious scene between the English and the French!
1. Bonnie and Clyde
Finally, it’s a movie for the adults again. Bonnie and Clyde is on Netflix and it’s a must-watch on New Year’s Eve. Set in the Great Depression, the story is based on truth; of the two bank robbers who fell in love with each other and attempted to make away with millions. Watch as they meet, fall in love, and take a journey that leads to betrayal and death.
