Narcos: Mexico season 2 premieres on Netflix in February 2020

Narcos: Mexico season 2 is coming to Netflix in February 2020. Scoot McNairy joins Diego Luna in the new season.

We don’t have to wait too much longer to see Narcos: Mexico season 2! Netflix announced the new season of the hit series will be released on Feb. 13, 2020, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.

Diego Luna will be back as Felix Gallardo, and we’re expecting Scoot McNairy, who narrated most of Narcos: Mexico, to play a much bigger role in the new season. McNairy’s character, Walt Breslin, was introduced in the finale of the first season. Breslin, it appears, has been tasked with stopping the cartels and drug trade in Mexico following the murder of Kiki Camerena, played by Michael Pena in the first season of the series.

We were hoping to see Narcos: Mexico season 2 on Netflix at the end of 2019, but that was always a little bit of stretch. It’s great that we don’t have to wait that long to see the new season!

At the end of the first season, Camerena, the lead investigator into Gallardo’s drug trade, was killed. The show is based on the true story of the United States involvement in Mexico’s drug war in the 1980s.

The next season will focus on the continued US effort to stop Gallardo’s cartel and others. Most importantly, the new season will reveal more of the issues, errors, and corruption by those in Mexico, the US, and within the governments of both countries that led to the current state of affairs in Mexico and the US regarding the drug trade.

There are a bunch of new characters joining the cast for season 2, according to the report.

Netflix also shared the first look at the new season on Twitter via its See What’s Next account. In the two new images, we get to see Gallardo and Breslin. Check out the images below.

We should learn a lot more about the second season as we get closer to the release date. Stay tuned for more information about the new season. Watch for a trailer sometime in January!
