We did it, Lucifans! Another record has been set in the books, Lucifer has been named the most-watched streaming series of 2019!

Give yourselves a hand, Lucifer is the most-watched streaming series of 2019, according to TV Time‘s report that highlights the 20 most popular shows on streaming services. Another big accomplishment for Netflix is that all but one of the 20 shows on the list are on Netflix! The one exception is The Handmaid’s Tale, which is on Hulu.

As great as this is, I have to comment that it’s not terribly surprising. Ever since the release of Lucifer season 4 on Netflix in May, the devilish series has been breaking records left and right. For starters, Lucifer held down TV Time’s Binge Report’s No. 1 spot for about two months. This is a record that isn’t often achieved at all. In fact, most shows enjoy only a 2-3 week stay on the Binge Report before leaving for good.

Well, not only did Lucifer keep the No. 1 spot for nearly two months, but it remained part of the countdown for many more weeks to come. Then, it surprisingly climbed back to the top after leaving for a couple of weeks. How many other shows do you know that have accomplished this?

Following behind Lucifer on the list of most watched streaming series of 2019, is Stranger Things at No. 2 and the controversial 13 Reasons Why drama at No. 3. Other notable wins for Netflix on this countdown, include: Money Heist, Orange is the New Black, You, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher.

Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale lands at No. 6, the only series that doesn’t belong to Netflix. It’s amazing how there are no series from Amazon Prime Video or HBO Now made it to the list. It goes to show how popular the streaming giant is. Will things change next year now that Apple TV Plus and Disney Plus have entered the game?

Lucifer returns for season 5 in 2020! The season will be split into two parts. We’ll let you know when Netflix announced the release date for the first half of season 5.
