David Harbour, star of Stranger Things, claims he still doesn’t know if Jim Hopper is alive and will be involved with Stranger Things 4.

Stranger Things star David Harbour still doesn’t know if Jim Hopper is alive or not after the Stranger Things 3 finale.

According to a report from ComicBook.com, Harbour told fans at German Comic Con Dortmund that he’s still waiting to find out if Hopper is alive and if he’s needed for season 4.

According to the report, Harbour also said that he hopes Hopper is still alive because he likes working!

Of course, Hopper wasn’t going to break the news at a fan convention. This is the show’s biggest secret so far, most likely, unless the Duffer Brothers are hiding something else. I think we all know that Harbour has to play along even if he did know if Hopper was still alive. I’m not saying he does or doesn’t know Hopper’s fate; I’m just simply pointing out that this wasn’t the place where the secret would be revealed.

By revealing Hopper’s fate, he would be spoiling something for the new season, and this early, that’s probably not a good idea. Netflix can create waves online with the perfectly timed release of this information, and that’s why we’re not going to find out about Hopper just yet.

We’ll likely learn Hopper’s fate a lot sooner than the season 4 premiere, though. Stranger Things 4 starts filming in January 2020, according to reports. Netflix and the series have not confirmed that timeline yet.

We have multiple trailers coming up, possibly a teaser celebrating the start of production like with Stranger Things 3, and we’re bound to find out if Harbour is in or around Georgia or any other place Stranger Things 4 is being filmed.

This show is not the little engine that could when it started filming. This show is big business, and there’s a lot of money at stake. That means the secrets need to be protected, and so far, Netflix and Stranger Things have done a great job keeping major plot points under lock and key.

Netflix knows all eyes will be on Stranger Things when production is supposed to start. I would not be surprised if we didn’t see something confirming Harbour’s role in Stranger Things 4 in the very near future. It seems like Netflix would want to get ahead of this before someone shares a picture of Hopper from a grocery store in Atlanta or something like that.

Like many Stranger Things fans, I think Hopper is still alive. It’s the only real theory that makes sense about The American. There is so much evidence pointing toward Hopper being alive. He was called “The American” all season. Then, there’s the Peter Gabriel song, “Heroes.” It all adds up.
