You season 2 trailer: Joe moves to Los Angeles and takes a new name
By Sandy C.
You on Netflix fans, meet Will! The first trailer for You season 2 is here and it gives us a first glimpse at what to expect (and a whole new Joe).
It’s finally here! When Netflix announced the official release date for You season 2, it didn’t come with any trailers or promotional teasers, so we patiently waited! But now, the first teaser trailer is out, and we are officially, just like Joe (Penn Badgley) obsessing about the series all over again.
Spoilers ahead if you have not yet watched the first season.
In the teaser, we see a backdrop of Los Angeles, California, where Joe Goldberg enters a grocery store. He begins to narrate over the trailer, which confirms that, once again, we’ll be following the story through his point of view. Joe shares that love has “taken me to some pretty dark places.” Yeah, I’ll say!
In season 1, Joe kills not only his love interest, Beck (Elizabeth Lail), but everyone else who got in the way. Still, in Joe’s mind, he did nothing wrong. He was betrayed and did what he had to do in order to get out alive and undetected. Now, we find him in L.A., and he doesn’t appear to be fond of the city too much, but it’s not like he has a choice. It’s easy for a serial killer to get lost in the crowds of Hollywood.
However, you can’t help but wonder why Joe would journey to L.A. when even he comments how the city is “as dark as it gets.” This reminds fans of the comment made by series creator Sarah Gamble, where she states that season 2 is going to be more bold and dark. We can’t wait to see what we’re in for!
The clip continues to tease that Joe has not changed much at all. He still hates all things social media, posers, online posts that are fake and only done for attention, you name it! But one huge thing has changed about Joe — his name.
In the last seconds of the You season 2 teaser trailer, Joe tells his barista, “I’m Will.”
After much anticipation, a brilliant cast, and this intense teaser, we can’t wait to see what Will has in store for us and are very much looking forward to seeing the dark places the busy and complicated city of Los Angeles takes Will.
You season 2 premieres on Netflix on Dec. 26.
