The Ranch Part 8: Premiere date, cast, plot and more
By Bryce Olin
When is The Ranch Part 8 starring Ashton Kutcher and Sam Elliott coming to Netflix? We share everything we know about the final season of the series so far.
The Ranch fans are eager to learn more about the final episodes of the series after Part 7 premiered this summer.
Below, we shared everything we know so far about The Ranch Part 8.
Premiere Date
UPDATE: The Ranch Part 8 is coming to Netflix on Jan. 24, 2020!
The Ranch Part 8 is expected to arrive in the spring of 2020. We still don’t know the exact date, but we have a pretty good idea.
When Ashton Kutcher confirmed season 4, which consists of Part 7 and Part 8, would be the final season in July 2019, he announced Part 7 was coming later in 2019 and Part 8 was coming in 2020. We’re almost to 2020, and we still don’t know the official date.
All the episodes of Part 8 have already been filmed.
Part 8 will likely be released on Netflix in March 2020. The second half of the season usually arrives about six months after the first half. The first half of season 4, Part 7, premiered in September 2019. Six months after that would be March 2020. That’s when we think the new season will arrive.
The first season of the show premiered in April 2016, so there’s also a chance the series ends the same month that it premiered four years earlier.
For now, expect to see the final episodes of the show in March or April 2020.
Cast
We know most of the main characters will be back for Part 8, including Kutcher, Elisha Cuthbert, Sam Elliott, and Dax Shepard. They are the ones that have become the main focus of the show in the last few seasons, and that’s not going to change heading into the last 10 episodes.
We also have to assume many of the other prominent characters from Part 7 will also be in the final episodes, including Grady Lee Richmond, Megyn Price, who plays Mary, Kathy Baker, who plays Joanne, and Josh Burrow, who plays Nick.
We haven’t heard for sure, but we’re also expecting Debra Winger will also be back for the final episodes of the series. She was not in any of the episodes of Part 7.
Danny Masterson, who was fired from the series following an investigation into sexual assault claims, is not expected to be in Part 8.
Plot
Because the season ended with a bang, literally, most of the plot will likely revolve around the fallout of that gunshot. Was Nick killed? Who killed him? Did Nick kill someone else?
Depending on how that scene played out, which we should learn in the first scene of Part 8, the direction of the rest of the series will be revealed.
There’s also the whole will-they-won’t-they relationship with Colt and Abby. At the end of the season, Abby said that they’d be done for good if Colt left and went after Nick. Colt does it anyway. Will Abby stick to what she said, or will they get back together again in the new episodes?
What happens to the ranch? What happens to the family? The show will likely tie up all those loose ends at the end of the season.
I don’t think Rooster will return to the series, but I think there’ll also be some sort of closure about his death. I don’t know what that will be, but it’s clear how they reacted when Nick came back to town that they need to move on.
Final Season
As mentioned, The Ranch signs off after four seasons on Netflix when Part 8 drops. When the show’s final episodes hit the streaming service, the show will become the longest-running Netflix comedy so far. That won’t last long, however.
Grace and Frankie will become the longest-running comedy series on Netflix when its seventh and final season airs in 2021.
