Happy December! This month, there are a bunch of new Netflix movies and shows on the way. To get the month started right, we listed the five best new movies and shows fans will want to watch on Netflix this week.

There’s a little something for everybody this week with new romantic Christmas movies, a vampire show, the final season of a beloved series, an Oscar contender and more!

Let’s get the list of Netflix new releases started with romantic Christmas movies!

A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish 

The new Cinderella Story movie, the fifth one of the film series, is now streaming on Netflix as of Dec. 1. The film stars Isabella Gomez, Laura Marano, Gregg Sulkin, and Barclay Hope.

In the movie, Kat, a singer, is forced to work at a Christmas event as an elf by her awful family. There, she meets Nick, and she is invited to a winter ball. Her family wants to stop her from going to the ball, but I think we know how it’s going to turn out!

If you like all the cheesy, romantic Christmas movies on Netflix, you’ll probably like this one!

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby 

This is the third movie set in the world of A Christmas Prince.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby premieres on Thursday, Dec. 5. In the film, Queen Amber is expecting, but political tensions with a neighboring nation are boiling over. This movie looks like it will be about three parts romantic Christmas movie and one part mystery.

The first two Christmas Prince movies, A Christmas Prince and A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding, are now streaming on Netflix. Check them out before the third film hits Netflix later this week.

V-Wars

Ian Somerhalder is back in another vampire drama! This time, the former Vampire Diaries star will star in the new Netflix original series, V-Wars. The new series premieres on Netflix on Thursday, Dec. 5.

In the series, which is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Jonathan Maberry, Somerhalder plays Dr. Luther Swann, who is trying to figure out a cure for a virus turning millions of people into vampires. Swann’s best friend, played by Adrian Holmes, becomes a vampire, and the pair rise through the respective ranks on opposite sides of a looming war.

V-Wars is going to be awesome!

Marriage Story

One week after The Irishman’s release, Netflix is rolling out another Oscar contender, Marriage Story. Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson star in the Netflix original film from Noah Baumbach that has everyone talking.

In the film, Driver and Johansson play a married couple working through their divorce and all of its complications. Laura Dern, Ray Liotta, Alan Alda, Merritt Wever, and more star in the film.

Marriage Story is likely Netflix’s best chance to win the Oscar for Best Picture. The Irishman should also be in the mix, but the long run in theaters and later release date is an indicator that Netflix thinks this film has the potential to win the streaming network’s first Best Picture Oscar.

Fuller House season 5

The first half of Fuller House season 5 arrives on Netflix on Friday, Dec. 6. This is the beginning of the final season of the Netflix original series based on the hit sitcom Full House.

There will be eight episodes released this week, and the last eight episodes will be released on Netflix sometime in 2020. The cast and crew just filmed the final episode of the series recently.

I know it’s a shame for many fans that this series is ending, but it will go down as one of the most popular and beloved Netflix shows so far.
