5 good Netflix shows to watch on Thanksgiving: Merry Happy Whatever and more
By Bryce Olin
A list of five good Netflix shows to watch on Thanksgiving, including Merry Happy Whatever, The Crown and more!
Happy Thanksgiving! Below, we shared a list of good Netflix shows to stream on Thanksgiving. All these shows go great with your dinner prep or your post-dinner coma!
Let’s get the list started with Merry Happy Whatever, a new Netflix original series!
Merry Happy Whatever
Merry Happy Whatever is Netflix’s first holiday TV comedy! The multi-cam sitcom stars Dennis Quaid, Bridgit Mendler, Brent Morin, Ashley Tisdale, Hayes MacArthur, Adam Rose, and Siobhan Murphy.
The series follows the Quinn family after one of their adult daughter brings home her new boyfriend for the holidays. Things get weird after that!
The Netflix original series premiered on Thursday, Nov. 28, also known as Thanksgiving Day. Check out the trailer for the new series below!
The Crown
The Crown season 3 just premiered on Netflix on Sunday, Nov. 17, and we’re betting you haven’t had the chance to catch back up with Queen Elizabeth II and the rest of the Royals circa the 1960s and 1970s.
There was a near two-year break between seasons of the series on Netflix. That’s because the new season features a new cast. Olivia Colman is now playing Queen Elizabeth II, while Helena Bonham Carter is playing Princess Margaret, Tobias Menzies is playing Prince Philip.
The Crown has already been renewed for season 4, and the full cast should be returning for the new season. That means the wait between seasons should be considerably shorter than the last season.
Atypical
Atypical is one of the best Netflix shows with a new season arriving this November. The third season of the series premiered on Netflix on Nov. 1. This is another good show to watch with the whole family.
The series tells the story of Sam Gardner, played by Kier Gilchrist, and his family. Sam is on the spectrum, and the audience gets to see how his challenges and strengths factor into the rest of the family unit, which consists of Casey, Sam’s younger sister, and Doug and Elsa, Sam’s parents.
This is the show to watch on Netflix if you’re a fan of the family dramedy genre.
Daybreak
Daybreak might not be the best show to watch with the whole family. But that, of course, depends on your family. If you and your family and friends like to watch post-apocalyptic dramas about teenagers who know a TON about pop culture and excellent insults, this is the show for you!
The series premiered on Netflix on Oct. 24, and it’s easily the best new show I’ve seen this fall. In the series, we follow groups of teens who are trying to survive the apocalypse in Glendale, California. After a nuclear bomb wipes out all the adults, the kids come together, sort of, to survive.
I can’t recommend this show enough. If you haven’t seen it, this is the show for you!
