We’ve listed five of the best comedies streaming on Disney Plus including classics, animated and feature movies guaranteed to get you laughing.

Let’s start with the classic Blackbeard’s Ghost.

5. Blackbeard’s Ghost (1968)

Director: Robert Stevenson
Writers: Bill Walsh and Don DaGradi
Starring: Dean Jones, Peter Ustinov, Suzanne Pleshette, Elsa Lanchester, Joby Baker, Elliott Reid, Richard Deacon, Kelly Thordsen.

Godolphin’s new track coach Steve Walker (Dean Jones) arrives in town and tries to get a room at Blackbeard’s Inn. In the process, he stumbles upon a fundraising bazaar for the daughters of the Buccaneers who claim they are direct descendants of the notorious Blackbeard. Unfortunately, the local gambler Silky is foreclosing on Blackbeard’s Inn unless the elderly ladies can raise the necessary funds.

Walker defying Silky’s order bids on and wins a bedwarmer that was once owned by Captain Edward Teaches’ 10th wife. The owners explain that the wife cursed Blackbeard to wander the earth forever until Teach can prove he cares for other people by performing one good deed. Walker not believing in ghost stories takes ownership of the bed warmer accidentally breaking the handle by sitting on it.

Checking the damage he discovers a book of spells hiding within the handle and reads the spell that allows him to see an earthbound spirit. Blackbeard’s Ghost appears before him, and to make matters worse, only he can see the rum-loving ghost who has a penchant for getting into trouble.

So begins the hilarious antics of Walker trying to get rid of Blackbeard while at the same time trying to win a track championship and save Blackbeard’s Inn.

Blackbeard’s Ghost is a Disney classic that is a sweet, funny, and heartwarming movie great to watch all year long.
