The Walking Dead midseason finale promo reveals potential spoilers
By Paul Zuniga
With The Walking Dead’s season 10 midseason finale less than a few days away, it doesn’t surprise us to see new promos being released. The promos might contain spoilers.
The Walking Dead’s latest episode concluded with both Dante (Juan Javier Cardenas) and Siddiq (Avi Nash) in rather precarious positions, leaving many of us with questions about where things are headed.
Warning! Spoilers ahead.
Based on what we witnessed during the episode’s final moments, it’s reasonable to assume that Siddiq is dead. A funeral attended by Alexandria’s residents is evidence to back up such a claim. There’s a slight possibility it could be for Cheryl, though odds are it is for the community’s former physician.
The more revealing glimpse came when the shot of Daryl (Norman Reedus) beating someone’s face in got expanded. A teaser trailer early on in the season featured a brief look at the confrontation, but no one could determine who was standing opposite Daryl. Now, however, we know the victim is Dante.
What’s interesting is he doesn’t appear to be fighting back. It looks like Dante has willingly surrendered to Daryl. Unfortunately for him, the longtime Walking Dead character won’t take it easy on him. Daryl may execute the Whisperer spy, but a later shot of him sitting in Alexandria’s prison suggests the traitor will be turned over. The question is: What will happen to him?
Regardless of how fans feel about him at the moment, Dante’s comic counterpart actually remains a resident throughout the Whisperer war. What’s more surprising is Dante leads the charge against them when the Skins’ unleashed their herd on Hilltop. The TV adaptation doesn’t seem willing to change, but there’s always a possibility that he’ll make a turnaround. Perhaps he’ll come to their rescue at a surprise moment, just like Eugune (Josh McDermitt) did when the Saviors surrounded Alexandria with a firing squad.
The last shot worth mentioning involves Daryl infiltrating the Whisperers’ camp. He appears to have found his way in, though the empty nest gives us the impression that it’s a trap. And if the Skins have set up an ambush, Daryl might be on his way out. Any one of them can sneak up and stab Daryl in the back, and there’s also the two lieutenants who Alpha (Samantha Morton) has at her disposal.
Beta (Ryan Hurst) is clearly the most loyal and doesn’t seem like the type to stray from a mission so he’s definitely a threat. And Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), he recently pledged his allegiance to Alpha. The Saviors’ former leader could easily be faking the employee routine, but knowing Negan, he’ll sacrifice Daryl to get on his new boss’ good side.
On the other hand, Negan may be using his infiltration of the group to get close enough to Alpha to execute her. Negan’s comic counterpart does the same in the source material so it wouldn’t be unheard of. Executing her would also earn him some credit with Alexandria’s council. They were on the fence about the Saviors’ former leader, but bringing them Alpha’s head would definitely change things.
