The Mandalorian only recently introduced fans to Baby Yoda, but he’s already becoming a fan-favorite character. Will the adorable little creature be Disney’s central mascot for the holiday season?

To coincide with the release of new Star Wars movies, Disney tends to promote merchandise based on characters from those properties. Recent years have seen the BB-8 Droid and Porgs gain the spotlight, and we suspect Baby Yoda will be this year’s biggest sensation.

Even though fans’ first glimpse at Baby Yoda was in Disney Plus’ exclusive series The Mandalorian, the adorable little tike is quickly turning into a fan favorite on social media. What’s so impressive is that the young alien has only appeared in a pair of episodes.

Considering the amount of popularity amassed so far, Baby Yoda will win everyone over by the time The Mandalorian’s first season comes to an end. There’s time for that to change but the little guy is too cute not to like. Even if Baby Yoda turns out to be a Dark Side monster, we’ll still be posting adorable memes of it all over the internet. That’s just how likable he is.

What fans should know about Baby Yoda is that he isn’t a younger version of the Jedi Master we’ve come to know in the Star Wars Universe. He’s definitely from the same race of aliens, but the two are completely different individuals.

As far as details go, we know Baby Yoda is 50 years old and a Force Sensitive creature. He’s also a carnivorous alien. The veteran Yoda never indulged in such appetites, but Baby Yoda seems to possess a clear hunger for meat. Fans should pay close attention to that aspect because who knows what the young alien will and won’t eat. The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) needs to be the most aware of Baby Yoda’s hunger.

Besides his appetite, another important trait to acknowledge is Baby Yoda’s ability to tap into the Force. He showcased his powers in Chapter 2: The Child and we’re bound to see more in Chapter 3. The child’s bounty hunting partner is supposed to deliver him to its’ recipient then, but most of us expect something to go wrong. And when it does, Baby Yoda will be forced to use his abilities once again.

All things considered, the one aspect that’s seemingly gone overlooked is the alien’s lack of dialogue. It could be due to his age, but our guess is he’ll speak up when the time is right. That is assuming the little guy sticks around for the foreseeable future.

New episodes of The Mandalorian air weekly on Disney Plus. Chapter 3 is scheduled for Nov. 22, 2019.
