You season 2 is coming to Netflix soon!
Below, we’ve shared when you can watch the new season of the Netflix original series and what could happen in the new season.
Release Date
After months and months of waiting, Netflix finally announced the release date for You season 2.
You season 2 premieres on Netflix on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019. Hopefully, you have time the week after Christmas to binge-watch the new season of the series!
Season 2 will arrive on Netflix a little later than expected. We, and many others, were anticipating this season would be released in the early fall around October. Unfortunately, fans had to wait a little longer to see the new season of the hit Netflix series.
Overall, I think it’s the perfect time to release a show like this. The first season, which was wildly successful, was also released on Netflix around the same time last year. With millions tuning in for the first season, You season 2 will probably be one of the biggest Netflix shows of 2019.
What Happens Next
At the end of the first season, Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) got away with the murders, and so far, he remains out of custody. We also know there is a private investigator looking into Peach’s death, and it won’t be long until the P.I. starts making some connections with Joe and the bodies in his wake.
The new season is based on the second book of the series written by Caroline Kepnes. The book is titled Hidden Bodies, and it’s great! We highly recommend fans of the TV series check out the book series.
In the new season, Joe is leaving his bookstore days in New York City behind him. He’s moving to Los Angeles, and he will be working at a high-end grocery store, according to a Distractify interview with new star Adwin Brown. Brown’s character, Calvin, also works at the store and befriends Joe.
Joe is not leaving his stalker days behind him quite yet, either. Love Quinn, played by Victoria Pedretti, will catch Joe’s attention in the new season, but according to TV Guide, it’s not a romantic “love” between Joe and Love. Apparently, Joe is not over what has happened in his past, as it turns out.
Los Angeles, or as it’s depicted on TV and film, is the perfect setting for Joe in season 2. He hated Peach and all of Beck’s friends, and there’s a lot of people who would be friends with Beck in LA. The yoga, the social media, and everything else should drive Joe bananas in the new season.
I have very few predictions about the new season, but I’m pretty sure that Joe is going to hate California. Just a hunch!
We’re going to be meeting a whole new cast of characters in the new season. From what I understand, Joe will be moving into this new world, and he’ll be meeting new people on his own and through Love in the new season. Robin Lord Taylor, Charlie Barnett, Chris D’Elia, Jenna Ortega, and James Scully all play important characters in the new season.
According to TV Guide, Scully and Barnett play Love’s brother and best friend, respectively. I think it’s looking probable they won’t like Joe very much. D’Elia plays a comedian in the new season, while Ortega looks to be this season’s version of Paco, someone Joe looks to help but instead leads them down a dark path, according to the report.
I’m also very interested in Taylor’s character, who could reveal a darker side of Joe, even darker than what we’ve seen so far, which is pretty dark.
Most notably, Ambyr Childers, who plays Candace, Joe’s ex who was shockingly alive at the end of the season, is also back for season 2. How will she factor into the new season? We’ll find out in December!
Stay tuned for the trailer for You season 2!
