Ozark season 3 is coming to Netflix in 2020. Here’s what we know about the new season heading into the third season.
Ozark season 3 is one of the most highly anticipated Netflix shows since Stranger Things 3 in the summer of 2019. Fans still have to wait a while until we get to see the new season.
Luckily, over the last few months, we’ve learned more about the new season and what will happen. Below, we shared the expected release date for Ozark season 3 and some exciting plot developments.
Many fans were hoping to see Ozark season 3 sometime in the fall of 2019. Unfortunately, by now, we know that isn’t going to happen.
Ozark season 3 started production in the spring of 2019, and as of the Emmys in September, which saw Jason Bateman, Julia Garner and the show win a few awards, the cast and crew were still filming season 3. Ozark was supposed to wrap production in October, according to several reports.
If that’s the case, we’ll likely see season 3 in April 2020. It usually takes about six months from the end of filming until the season is released on Netflix. Sometimes, that gap between production and the season’s release is a little shorter, and that’s what we’re hoping for season 3.
At the time of publishing, we’re expecting Ozark season 3 to be released on Netflix in the spring of 2020. After their success at the Emmys with this show, Netflix will want to release this show before the end of May, so it’s eligible for next year’s Emmys.
For now, expect to see season 3 between March and May 2020. We’ll be sure to share the release date with you as soon as we find out more information.
What Happens Next
Spoilers for Ozark season 2 below!
Ozark season 2 ended in a somewhat shocking way, as you’ll recall. Marty was ready to get his family out of the Ozarks and head for Australia. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, Wendy pulls the plug on that, and they end up staying to get the riverboat casino up and running.
That seems to be a major focus of the third season. According to a report from Deadline, Jason Bateman shared that the Byrde family will be helping operate the casino in season 3. The report also mentioned a six-month time jump from the end of the last season to the beginning of season 3.
That gets the story moving forward, but it also skips the winter season and brings us back in around the summertime, which is the time the Ozarks are booming with tourism, vacationers, and more. That’s probably where this story should live moving forward.
At the end of the season, we also saw Cade Langmore gunned down by the cartel. How will Ruth react to her father’s death? We know she was considering the action after Cade’s actions. What will she do without her father in the picture?
We still don’t know how this will affect Charlotte and Jonah. It appears Charlotte has chosen to remain with the family, but we’ll see if that changes as time goes on. To me, this is the most interesting part of this story.
With Marty and Wendy, they’ve chosen this life and gone all in. It seems Charlotte has also chosen it, too, but she never really had a choice. As Jonah gets older, will he want the same?
We also know there are more characters joining Ozark season 3. In the new season, we’ll meet Wendy’s brother, who is played by Tom Pelphrey of Marvel’s Iron Fist, and a new FBI agent and scientist, played by Jessica Frances Dukes, according to a Den of Geek report. Felix Solis and Joseph Sikora will also play major roles in the new season.
That’s all we know about Ozark season 3 right now. We’ll be sure to let you know more when we find out! Stay tuned for more news about season 3!
