The Crown season 3 is coming to Netflix tonight
We’ve waited patiently and now that patience is being rewarded. The Crown season 3 will be available to stream in full tonight. Are you staying up?
Fans of The Crown will want to stay up tonight. The Crown season 3 is coming to Netflix at midnight PT and we all just can’t wait.
The official time for release is midnight PT/3 a.m. ET on Nov. 17. I’m sure you can work out all other U.S. timezones to figure out when it will be available in your area. Personally, I have to wait until 3 a.m., but I feel like this is a season to stay up for to binge-watch in one go.
The Crown season 3 will see some major changes. The entire cast is changing. Move over Claire Foy, there’s a new Queen Elizabeth in town. Olivia Colman is taking over the role and you can already see what that’s going to be like in the trailer released for the season a few short weeks ago. There is the worry of getting older, of people not liking her, and I find that very meta.
Changing the cast every two seasons has always been in the cards. Showrunner Peter Morgan wants to make the age transition look real. Rather than do something like This Is Us and Outlander, which are using makeup and wigs to make characters look older, The Crown is opting for older sets of actors.
Colman, Tobias Menzies, Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Daniels will take over the roles of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones. For the third season, we’ll head through the years 1964 and 1977, watching as England won the Football World Cup, the U.S. put a man on the moon and many other major global events. There will also be personal events, including Prince Charles meeting Camilla and falling in love with her, except that family will force him into another direction.
You can see it all tonight. What are you excited to see in The Crown season 3?
