Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina exist in the same universe, so really, why shouldn’t they crossover? It just makes sense!

Ever since Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was first announced, we’ve been pondering just this question: Should it crossover with Riverdale?

Then, we got to see Sabrina, and we forgot about that question for a while because that was a lot to digest, and then we had a Holiday special, and more Sabrina!

But now, with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on a well-deserved break and Riverdale just, well, being Riverdale, we’re back on this train, not that we ever truly left.

So here are five reasons why the COAS/Riverdale crossover of our dreams should happen:

1. Why make it so they can crossover if you never intend them to?

Common sense dictates that, if something can happen, at some point, it will. This is a rule of TV. I distinctly remember Black Lightning stars and creators saying Black Lightning would never, ever appear on an Arrowverse crossover, because that just wasn’t in the fabric of the show. And now here we are, a few years later, and Black Lightning is in the Arrowverse crossover “Crisis on Infinite Earths.”

So, yeah, if a crossover can happen, at some point, it will happen. That’s just common sense. If not, why set it up as a possibility in the first place?

2. Fans would love it

This is usually the reason to do the crossovers: fans absolutely love it.

We’re just in awe of the idea that all these people whose lives we’re invested in live in the same world. That’s part of the reason the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been such a hit, after all. We love seeing all our superheroes together, and even when they’re not together, we love the idea that they know each other and could call each other if needed.

3. It would steal some of the DCTV crossover spotlight

Every year, we get a DCTV crossover, but other than the MCU, that’s all we usually get on TV when it comes to genre shows. I mean, yes, the people of Chicago Med, Chicago PD and Chicago Fire often see each other, but those shows are rooted in reality – it’s much easier to cross over. Not so much with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale.

And yet, that’s why they should do it. It doesn’t have to be yearly, but it would absolutely steal some of the DCTV spotlight. Right now they’re not just at the head of the game, they are the game. It doesn’t have to be that way.

4. How much crazier can Riverdale get?

I know, I know, Riverdale is, presumably, a show set in reality. But if you truly think about it, how much crazier can Riverdale get?

For a teenage adaptation of Archie comics, Riverdale is already a pretty twisty, dark show. What’s a little magic when you take into account everything that’s already happened?

And especially this season, which is meant to be a soft reboot of sorts, with the show trying to go back to the basics, to the people. Now, I’m not saying it’s the perfect time to introduce Sabrina and co., but I’m not saying it isn’t.

5. Free publicity for both shows

This is always the number one reason to crossover two properties, in the first place.

You get people who only watch Riverdale to watch Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and vice-versa. Oh yes, you get a lot of people talking about both shows in general! Free publicity is a hard thing to get in this business, and these two shows could definitely get it by biting the bullet and letting the inhabitants of these two towns meet.

Don’t you agree?
