Raoul Bushman (Moon Knight)
Raoul Bushman seems like another character who’s guaranteed to play a role in Disney’s Moon Knight series. He played an integral role in Marc Spector’s journey to becoming the vigilante known as Moon Knight so an introduction is assured.
In the comics, Bushman is the leader of a squad of mercenaries who commit all sorts of atrocities. Marc Spector was Bushman’s second-in-command until they came to an impasse over slaughtering innocent civilians. Spector attempted to stop his former commander but wound up being knocked unconscious and left for dead.
The surprising thing is that Bushman didn’t finish the job. Even though he’d mercilessly slain tons of villagers and Dr. Alraune, he left Spector alive. Unfortunately for Bushman, it came back to bite him. The end result of Spector being left for dead in the desert is that he found Khonshu’s statue. It then revived him and inspired Spector to exact his vengeance. And the first person who came to mind was Bushman.
Seeing as how Raoul Bushman influenced Marc Spector and led the latter to Seti’s tomb, he’ll presumably play a similar role in the live-action Disney show. Significant differences could be made to Bushman’s origin and motives but he’s already such a compelling character so there’s really no need to retcon his canonical biography.
With Bushman’s origin being accounted for, it’s safe to say he’ll be one of the antagonists on the Moon Knight series. Bushman may be portrayed as a redeemable character in the first few episodes, though his comic history suggests he’ll go bad by the season’s end.
Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight doesn’t have a release date attached yet. Stay tuned for more updates on when the Disney Plus show will debut.
