Harley Keener (Hawkeye)

In the off-chance that Kate Bishop is leading a group of Young Avengers on the new Disney Plus series, she’ll probably be joined by Harley Keener (Ty Simpkins). He made a brief appearance during Tony’s funeral in Avengers: Endgame and seems to be at the right age to play Iron Lad if he’s up for it.

Having Harley become Iron Lad is ideally how we’d want Tony Stark’s legacy to live on, too. Morgan Stark can’t suit up yet and Pepper won’t endanger her own life to fill that void, so that places Harley next in line. He’s still inexperienced and has a lot to learn, but with a little guidance from Rhodey (Don Cheadle) and Happy (Jon Favreau), he could make a good candidate.

Assuming Harley is considered for the role of Iron Lad, he and Kate Bishop will probably begin assembling a version of the Young Avengers. They’ll require support from Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), but it’s the kids who’ll have to form the team. Kids don’t usually respond well to authority figures and Hawkeye isn’t the type to coddle heroes. That means Kate and Harley will be charged with the recruiting.

In terms of possible teammates, Harley and Kate could recruit Cassie Lang (Emma Fuhrmann) to get started. She expressed her interest in becoming a superhero after Scott (Paul Rudd) revealed his secret identity to her, making Lang’s daughter a perfect ally to consider.

Aside from a cameo on Disney’s Hawkeye series, Harley Keener may be scheduled for an appearance in an MCU movie instead. None of the upcoming titles seem right but Ant-Man 3 could work as an entry point for Harley.

Ant-Man 3 will presumably focus on tech-based heroes so that sets the groundwork for a new Iron Man to work as a subplot to the drama. Lang and Henry Pym (Michael Douglas) wouldn’t have given Tony a second thought before Endgame, but after his noble sacrifice in the climax, they might be more inclined to keep his legacy alive. They’re not going to hold tryouts, but if a young lad like Harley Keener comes looking for help, they’ll probably give him the tools he needs to assemble a suit of his own.

Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye is scheduled to launch on Disney Plus in 2021.
