Who says Mondays are boring? Netflix has brightened up our week with the premiere date for You season 2! The new season premieres on Netflix in December.

Get ready, You on Netflix fans! Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) returns to the streaming giant in You season 2, which premieres on Thursday, Dec. 26.

The show’s official Twitter account announced the news this morning (check out the tweet, below)! I don’t know about you, but my Christmas break plans are already made: I’ll be watching the sure-to-be intense second season of the hit series along with friends and fans of the original series.

Many predicted season 2 would debut late this year, but with the clock ticking, the holiday season in full swing, and no announcement from Netflix, we were close to giving up hope on Joe returning this year. Well, surprise, surprise, we only have several weeks until the new season hits Netflix.

The Netflix original series is based on the novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes. The author followed up the drama-packed story of Joe Goldberg with Hidden Bodies, her second book which the second season of You is set to loosely follow. Those who have already read the second novel should have nothing to worry about, the first season gave fans of the novel plenty of surprises. We love when a series adaptation doesn’t follow its original work page-by-page.

Still, if you’ve read the book, what are you most looking forward to seeing when the second season premieres? There are many new faces on the way that we can’t wait to meet! I’m most excited to learn about Joe’s new victim, she doesn’t seem to be like his former “love,” Beck.

Here’s the tweet that made our week:

Season 2 won’t only be featuring new characters and a new side of Joe, but we’ll also see a darker twist of the story. As series creator Sarah Gamble teased earlier this year, season 2 will be “darker and gorier.” What new troubles will Joe be creating?

If you haven’t watched the first season, you’re missing out! Stream it today on Netflix.
